Summer Work Experience
Summer "Placement" at Arc
I've started volunteering at Arts for Recovery (Arc) in South Reddish near Stockport, a group who offer a range of arts and crafts workshops to people recovering from various mental health issues, addiction, strokes, post-natal depression etc. They also organise external workshops, in-house exhibitions and fun days.
I've chosen to do this instead of doing a short placement with a jewellery designer as everyone else in my year seems to be doing/seeking. the idea of working, most of the time alone, in a studio making jewellery or sitting in my own shop for the rest of my life just isn't for me. Of course money is important but it's not the reason I love art and design, nor will it ever be my main focus, it will be a bonus.
I want to work with people and volunteering is a good way to gain relevant experience.
